Foundation Safety and Rescue Training

This course aims to provide the participant with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and deal with emergency situations. It is a pre-requisite for the UKCC Level 1 Coach.

Pre requisites: 2 star ability or 2 star award holder. Be able to swim in normal clothing. Minimum age of 14 years old.

Cost per person:

  • 1 day (9.30am - 5pm) - £50
  • 2 evenings (6pm - 9.30pm) - £50

Course dates:

  • Saturday 27th February 2010
  • Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th May 2010
  • Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th July 2010
  • Tuesday 28th and Thursday 30th September 2010

UKCC Level 1 Training and Assessment

The BCU Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Paddle sport is appropriate for individuals new to coaching, who have some knowledge of paddlesport and wish to learn how to help others enjoy paddling. The qualification is appropriate for individuals who want to coach any of the various paddlesport disciplines. A four day course including training and assessment.

Pre requisites: 2 star, Foundation Safety and Rescue Training award. Minimum age of 16 years old.

  Cost per person: 4 day course (9.30-5pm) - £180

Course Dates:

  • 20th, 21st February, 6th and 7th March.  
  • 1st, 2nd and 15th, 16th  May 2010

 UKCC Level 2 Training

This is a 4 day training course. The course is for people who may be working independently. This is a non-discipline specific course and students will learn the skills to teach in both canoe and kayak. A good standard of personal performance in both craft is required. For those candidates holding the pre-requisites and who have registered with the BCU.

UKCC Level 2 Assessment

Between training and assessment you will need to plan, deliver review and log a number of coaching sessions, You will also need to complete a number of home study exercises and an additional CPD unit (see page 7 for further details). The assessment itself involves being observed delivering 2 coaching sessions. This could be either within your working environment or on a scheduled assessment

Pre requisites: L2 Training. First aid certificate, 3 star, CRB.

Dragon Boat Helm

Includes membership for BDA, registration fee and resources.
 

Pre requisites:  none

Cost per person:

  • 2 day course - £120

Course Dates:

  • Saturday 24th July
  • Sunday 25th July

Bell Boat Helm

Aimed at coaches, youth leaders and others who wish to introduce and develop paddlers in bellboats for recreation. The main priority for themselves and the crew is Safety and enjoyment. For non BCU members, course registration is an additional £17.50.

Pre requisites:  First Aid
