Apart from just being good old fashioned fun, making a paddle involves a number of skills including design, maths and using tools. We can visit your school to assist in the production of the paddles and provide all the equipment. Once made, the paddle is a memorable keepsake that can also be used for undertaking a fun journey in a 6 person Katakanu. You can learn about the wildlife, history, transport and geography on the river
Our Katakanu Regattas have proved really successful in promoting water sports to young people. Our stable boats increase water confidence and promote working together as a team in a positive light. We have recieved wonderful feedback from all the schools that have taken part in these events. Students compete against other school teams over a 200 metre course. Sunsetters We are a group of adults who like to paddle socially and recreationally. Our members are people who have met on a course provided by Wokingham Waterside Centre or friends who have some paddling experience. We meet once a week for a paddle on the River Thames at Wokingham Waterside Centre.
